A Temporal 'Micheal Bay' Effect in Manifesto and its Aftereffects in IIUM SRC Election

Assalamualaikum and greetings.

IIUM Student Representative Council is going to take place soon within these few days. So, here is my piece for them.

Pre-read notice: Be open-minded!

Title: A Temporal 'Micheal Bay' Effect in Manifesto and its Aftereffects

A candidate can simply states that he/she is fighting for the people. 'From people to people', has been propagandised through vast social medias, and also printed black and white. Propaganda or sincerity? We never know, or at least, we have faith in them.

Take that away, now we look how far can their words last. Students evaluate through experiences by their conscious mind. When candidates fill in the loop holes with hopes and efforts, students will eventually vote them. Now, the real question for this part, are those manifestos meant for the students or just to win their hearts? To candidates, don't take it personal. This part is between you and your heart.

Successful candidates will now uphold the wisdom of their own words and represent themselves as a team under one of the most notable high-level students' society - Student Representative Council, with one mission and vision. However, manifestos need to be manifested, by hook or by crook. We live in democratic society, and in university, students will be judges, even if fellow representatives refuse to acknowledge it. At the end of the tenure, students will urge the representatives to make a self-audit of their own manifestos.

This culture is practiced in most universities and there are pros and cons of it. Through self-audit, students get to know which manifestos have been implemented, preventing future candidates to use the same manifestos, and which one is written on a paper for two long semesters and one short semester as manifesto just for 'Micheal Bay' effect, or a wow factor. The downside, which most representatives tend to take it in a positive manner is proving that they have successfully win the game. Is it a competition between winner and loser? A coward for not taking up the challenge to self-audit? A hero for keeping up his/her words until the end? Is it a final stage for defending oneself after receiving supporting or ruthless comments for a tiring one-year tenure? Take these questions as your personal self-audit.

Last piece of words, ask yourself again and again, in daylights and in nights, on your knees, gracing your palms for His guidances,

"Am I in this for selfish reasons or sincere to help my fellow friends?"

Intention triumphs manifesto.

The New Beginning

Assalamualaikum and greetings to my fellow readers,
including my own imaginary readers.

Today marks the 5th day of my class as a new student. Some of you probably knew me as an engineering student before, but that was past. A past that taught me well, but I beg to differ them as a moderate logic thinker. So I followed my new dream to a new adventurous place, fresh and lite, more fun and more excitements.

Bachelor Degree of Human Sciences (English Language and Literature)(Honours)

*clap clap*

Hey, thank you supporters.
I made big damn hard decision back then.

Anyway, aside of this. I would like to promote my first article as a freelance journalist, InsyaAllah, in IIUM Today News.

I wrote an article for Fit Malaysia event that was held on 7th of September 2014. Yes, I attended the event and ran for 5KM FitMalaysia Run, Zumba, few medical check up and many more. You can read my article by clicking this link. Once again, thank you. #FitMalaysia and never go back.

So, chop chop everyone. I'm totally gonna score all of my subjects, get a scholarship, take minor in mass comm, get good internship, recognize and acknowledge, get a good job and marry my cat lady.

Arigatou minna-san!

Prayers and Dramas

Assalamualaikum and greetings fellow readers.

How's your third day of fasting in Ramadhan? Well then, write it down and keep it in a journal.

Here, I have a story for you. A story of a lil kid learning how to pray.

When I was in pre-school, I was a kid and I don't know how to perform Subooh prayer the right way. Well, probably because Subooh has du'a qunut. That's all, but it was a big deal to me.

Clearly, I was following blindly. My dad performed solat sunat qabliyah for Subooh and I followed. I was confused, as I thought that he's doing his Subooh prayer, but no. Plus, why did he pray by himself? He should pray all together, with the whole jemaah in the masjid.

Straight to the point, I put my hands on prayer, while reciting Al-Fatihah.

Few minutes later, the bilal recited the iqamah, and everyone completing the saff, takbir and performed their Subooh. Now, I'm worried. Cause, I had my Subooh just now. That's what I thought. Heh.

Few days later, I told the story to my ustadz in school and asked him. Giggled with his hand covering his mouth, he told me what'd happened. =_=

Why do I have to tell you this story?
Nowadays, there are so many videos in Facebook, videos of people praying, the way that they have never seen before and wrong, or that's what they think it is.

The problem is not on their prayer, entirely.
Instead of approaching them, we record and post it on Facebook
with a caption,
"The fastest prayer I've ever seen"
"What is this? Syiah"
"Look the way he did his rukook"
and more!
Now, you think it stops here? People will comment and share. You know the rest, it's all collateral damage. A continuous thread of hatred, and ignorance.

Alhamdulillah, during my time, nobody recorded the way I did my Subooh prayer, well maybe because nobody cares about Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Hahaha. It's a shameful memory of my childhood, but I learnt my lesson.

Happy fasting. Salaam Ramadhan Kareem. :D

Wrong Turn

Wrong Turn

Ocean won't rhyme with shore
And wave resonate no more
And so is mankind, nothing left to show

Long lost generosity

Love Ourselves

Assalam.

I would like to quote 3 lines from a poem written by Derek Walcott.

"You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you."

Mind is a great tool for human. Use it in compliment with brain. Brain owns by a body. So, who has full control of a mind?
The brain's master.

My Goose's Dream

My Goose's Dream

I fell, shattered, wounded
Like a glass full of air
It bleeds nothing

But I have dreams
I'll pour love
Bloom with red passion

And
I will fight, shine, win

by AmirullahZul

Assalam readers,

Time flies and my brain get rusty. Too much air, and I can hear empty can clinking, and guess who's the one responsible for that. These past few days, including the last few months, I have made a decision that would be one of the most hardcore life-changing and future-dependent. It was drastic, some people considered it as too late, wasting of times, and more on the emotional part, and I should stop listing it down now.

I did it for the sake of who I am in the future. To please me, now and later on. I live in a society, or a bloodline that'd question me of what will I do with my graduation scroll, my degree, and of my days as a human, and in the end, I will be the one, not to please me, but to please others.

I have dreams, and these dreams changes countless times - from childhood to adulthood, and when I get old, will I ever have one dream that I will live with? I can't guarantee.

For everything, I am being me, doing something recklessly just for me. And others, if you have nothing else to say other than giving me discouragements, then please don't. I beg your mercy, give me supports. If you're holding my hands, you're one of a kind.

Please, make du'a for my fresh application as an IIUM student.

The Black Map

The Black Map

A blurry scenery,
Unclear,
As if it's out of my sight.

A blocked path on my way,
No sign,
And I'm walking backwards.

This map, it's pitch-black,
A reflection of me.
Oh, I'm hardly breathing,
And now I can't see,
Tomorrow's me.

Please let me change my programme with ease. :'(

When Holiday meets Me

Assalam and greetings

On last mid-term holiday, I witnessed lots of magnificent creations of Allah and one of those that I loved so much is NATURE.

I visited Kedah for the third time; enjoyed a trip to Langkawi with 2 of my friends - Kimi and Qiqi, and celebrated Eid Adha at Kodiang. Wallahi, Kedah has always been one of the place that I loved so much. In my homeland Sarawak, there aren't so many paddy field. Beautiful blue sky and paddy field gives you stress-free feeling when you need sweet escape from busy city.

So, here's my story.

FIRST DAY
During our one day trip to Langkawi, we stayed at Tstar Cottage, near to Pantai Chenang. You can check on the place in their website page. I pasted the link at the bottom of this post.

The place is quite cosy and nice. They have beautiful green concept landscape design and from the entrance, you can see view of nature around the cottage - with due respect to their motto, "Love Green Love Nature". Qiqi get ourselves a Spa House on the ground floor. Anyway, it's completely a nice place to stay.

There's nothing much we can do because we have only one day. Well, we did enjoyed our one day trip; went to Pantai Chenang, Chenang Mall, shops and of course, we bought so many chocolates. Onomnom~ I did asked a silly question to my friend during our dinner at KFC. I asked them, if Langkawi is a strategic honeymoon destination for couple. Obviously, yes.

SECOND DAY
The next day, off to Jetty Point and had our lunch at Kenny Rogers Roasters and stopped by at Starbucks to buy a drink - because Qiqi is a Starbucks monster. At 7 pm, we rushed to the jetty, get into ferry and have a safe journey to Kuala Perlis.

Sampai Kuala Perlis *___* Kepala pening-pening lalat. Ayah Kimi bawak kami balik Kodiang, had our dinner, mandi, main mercun jap, and slept like sleeping beauties. Not so beauty after all. Kami abam-abam hensem ja.

THIRD DAY
So, hello Kodiang. Very quiet place, kawasan kampung, buatkan aku rindu kampung aku sendiri. Yang tak bestnya, line maxis tak bagus. Ini salah maxis. Maxis memang problem line macam chipsmore. Anyway, kami memang takda plan nak buat apa. But the next day after we arrived is the Eid Adha Celebration, so aku and Qiqi tag along dengan family Kimi ke Alor Setar, eh wait, Alor Staq naa.

Ini yang paling best! Aku rasa artis sebab datang jauh dan di import dari Sarawak. I loved the attention hehehe. The best part is, uncle Kimi boleh cakap Sarawak, melepas la rindu sedikit nak cakap bahasa sendiri. Anyway, memang epic meal time, makan tanpa henti. Remind me of the time bila beraya dengan family Izzat dulu, the same situation. Ada mee sup, laksa utara, lemang dan rendang (I think so), bubur sedap (I don't know the exact name), nasi and lauk-lauk sedap, dan macam-macam lagi. Setelah segala godaan makanan aku gagal tepis dengan silat, taek kwon do dan karate, aku makan dan berat naik seperti biasa. Perut aku pulak, deng deng macam lawak ke der 2. Kaco kaco! Salah timing la perut ni. Time nak enjoy makan, nak melawat tandas pulak.

Lepas tu, kami jalan-jalan around Alor Staq, pi Jitra and then dah takda idea, pi la Tasik Darul Aman. More like get-together-time and brotherhood moment, tapi lawak jugak. Paid for buggy riding, we drove around the park. Mula-mula Qiqi yang drive, and then aku try drive. Perghhh sensation orang yang bawak and I don't have a license, rasa macam "Aku nak drift!", tapi takut terjunam masuk tasik pulak. Then, minum di kedai dekat dengan tasik. Cendol jagung tak sedap, jangan order. Tapi ABC Ice Cream sedap, mesti order. Yang tak bestnya, too crowded and too many people yang macam baru nak hit puberty and lepak-lepak konon. Apa boleh buat, kawasan public. Aku pun lepak jugak. Eh. Eh.

FOURTH DAY
Supposedly, pi Padang Besar tapi tak jadi and tukar schedule ke esok hari. So, planning nak pi Baling or Kulim, nak jalan-jalan, pun tak jadi. The rest of the day takda buat apa sampai pukul 6 camtu, aku, Qiqi and Kimi keluar and plan tengok Insidious Chapter 2 kat Jitra Mall. The only show time available is at 11 pm. Kena tunggu. So, kami ronda Jitra and Alor Staq skali lagi, had our dinner at Rakok Seafood, went to donwtown shops, ordered take away KFC for Qiqi and went back to Jitra Mall and watched Insidious Chapter 2.

Oh yes, Insidious Chapter 2 memang terbaik. Kalau belum tengok yang first, tengok dulu then you can watch the second one, sebab ada banyak kesinambungan antara first and second Insidious. The funny part is that when I can't stand the way 'something' slapped the lady, we all screamed and Qiqi is holding his KFC chicken. Eating and screaming, at the same time. HAHAHAHA... Habis movie tu, kami terus balik and tdoq nyenyak.

FIFTH DAY
Ahhh the last day, and I can't remembered it well what we did. Ahhh oh yes, kami dok dalam rumah ja. Did we? No! We went to Padang Besar, Perlis. On the way to Padang Besar, ambik kawan Kimi, Abdil kat Taman Tun Teja. Yes, I remembered the very least detail which not so important. Mesmerized by the beautiful view and scenery along the road to Padang Besar, I kept my mouth shut and enjoyed the view. Macam sightseeing dalam kereta la pulak.

Dah sampai Padang Besar, beli la baju and makanan, except for me sebab dah pokai lepas balik dari Langkawi, blame the chocolates and foods. Aku beli satu cincin ja, which Qiqi claimed to be 'couple ring' konon, but I just want to have one small thing that would last much longer than foods.

On our way back to Kodiang, me and Qiqi dah tak boleh tahan, stopped by and the side of the road and took pictures. Serius pemandang luas and sangat cantik! Subhanallah. Selalu tengok dalam TV ja. Fell in love with nature.

Balik Kodiang and we rest for a while and packed our stuffs. Tiket balik ke KL jam 10 pm. We thanked Kimi's family for giving us with good hospitality and layanan yang sangat baik. Segan pulak bertandang tak bawak apa-apa. But nevermind, I swear I will come back sebab Kimi tak bawak aku makan Pasembur kat Kodiang.

p/s : This post is supposedly posted after Raya Aidiladha, 2 weeks after, tapi dah lambat. Terlupa nak publish, tersimpan as draft.
